Official American Buffalo Club Association Rules
The American Buffalo Club Association (ABCA) has posted these rules to set a standard and in an effort to promote consistency in Club rules. The ABCA recognizes there are many variations to Buffalo Club rules from chapter to chapter and does not ask that all members conform to the ABCA rules.
It is the sole responsibility of each Buffalo Club member to enforce these rules, or the rules of your Buffalo Club Chapter and uphold the honor and integrity associated with the Buffalo Club.
It is the sole responsibility of each Buffalo Club member to enforce these rules, or the rules of your Buffalo Club Chapter and uphold the honor and integrity associated with the Buffalo Club.
1. Buffalo Club is a lifetime commitment and only individuals that will honor the Buffalo Club rules will be accepted into the club.
2. Members have committed to drinking any beverage containing alcohol with their left hand only.* Why left hand only instead of dominant hand? For consistency. **
3. If a Buffalo Club member violates the left hand rule, another Buffalo Club member may call out "BUFFALO!" and the
violator must immediately finish the remainder of the beverage using their left hand. Realistic expectations shall be set for those violations that may incur an extreme punishment. ***
4. Only Buffalo Club members may accuse other Buffalo Club members of the buffalo violation.
5. Only Buffalo Club members may induct new Buffalo Club members. Alcohol must be present and consumed in order to validate the initiation of the new Buffalo Club member.
6. Only Buffalo Club members may form Buffalo Club Chapters.
* Buffalo Club members may hold alcoholic beverages in any hand he/she chooses including double fisting however, the member's right hand may not be touching the beverage in any way, shape or form (including straws) while the beverage is CONSUMED. An easy way to settle any disputes is to use the Old West "Revolver Rule." The Revolver Rule states that if a person can not use their right hand to draw his/her revolver (to defend themselves) while consuming an alcoholic beverage because said beverage is touching their right hand in any way, then the member is a buffalo violation.
** Why left hand only instead of dominant hand? For consistency. If one meets a fellow Buffalo member for the first time, how do they know that person's dominant hand? What if the other Buffalo member is ambidextrous or claims to be "ambidextrous?" Ninety percent of the world's population is right handed. Southpaws can get caught violating the Buffalo Club rules just as often as right handed individuals. It just takes some strategy and sometimes teamwork from fellow members to get the job done.
*** Sensible amounts of alcohol only. Do not attempt to consume an entire liter of whiskey or empty a keg. Play honorably as well as responsibly.
The ABCA is not responsible for the individual actions of its members and encourages all members to play responsibly. Please see "Article VII Indemnification" in the American Buffalo Club Association bylaws.
