- Newly launched app allows you to order a beer in any language –
Thirsty travelers jetting off around the world this summer will be able to indulge in an ice-cold beer whatever their destination, thanks to newly launched app Pivo.
The brainchild of Justin Amey and Ollie Hepworth, the idea for Pivo was sown on a trip to Prague earlier this year, when Justin and Ollie realised that neither of them knew how to order a beer in Czech. A search for a suitable app to aid the thirsty travellers in their task proved fruitless, so Pivo– the Czech word for beer - was born - the first app in the world that allows you to order a beer in 59 languages.
Intrepid travellers simply need to download the app to access not only written phonetic instructions on how to order their favourite tipple, but also a short video tutorial for each language featuring a native speaker teaching you how to get the pronunciation exactly right - with a particular highlight being the enthusiastic Welsh tutor!
Justin Amey, creator of Pivo commented: “We couldn’t believe it when we landed in Prague and couldn’t find the help we needed to indulge in one of the Czech Republic’s most famous exports. We’re really proud of Pivo, which we hope will prove invaluable to travellers this summer, whether they’re heading off to exotic locations or holidaying closer to home. Whether it’s a beer in Burma, an ale in Argentina or a lager in Latvia, Pivo really is a must-have for thirsty holidaymakers.”
Designed by the Bournemouth-based Walker Agency and priced at just $0.99, Pivo is now available to download from 13 June 2013 on iTunes.
